Women Light The World is proud to announce our partnership with Ling Skin Care and to support a cause with such a personal meaning to our founder Ling Chan.
The mission of Women Light The World is to educate and empower economically disadvantaged women and their families living in remote underdeveloped communities in Nepal and other 3rd world countries. Through the education partnership with Barefoot College, women are able to learn how to bring solar power back to their communities.
Founder of Ling Skin Care, Ling Chan, recalls a similar childhood growing up in a rural village in Hong Kong where there was no electricity, and limited resources and education. At the time, there were minimal to no opportunities for a better life.
Most of the villages of Humla, Nepal don’t have access to electricity, communication (telephone, mobile service, internet), clean drinking water, education and proper health care. It is considered one of the most remote and isolated regions in Nepal.
Despite growing up in similar conditions, Ling overcame her circumstances and immigrated to the United States at age 21 to pursue the American dream. In New York City, Ling became a renowned esthetician for her results oriented skincare and serving numerous celebrity clients.
However, Ling has never forgotten where she comes from and the hardships faced in her native village. Through her success, Ling was able to support her entire family including her parents, grandparents, siblings, and children. Ling frequently reflects on her experiences and shares, “This is why I appreciate everything that I have.”
Throughout her success and over 40 years of experience, Ling has consistently valued giving back to those who are less fortunate and firmly believes, “Every individual should have the mentality to help others.”
LING Skin Care humbly invites our valued customers to join us in our mission to help light up the world through a contribution to Women Light The World’s Red Bead Club.
