Chiapas is located in Southeastern Mexico, bordering Oaxaca to the west, and home to ancient Mayan ruins. Chiapas has the highest poverty rate (74%) among all Mexican States.
It is also home to one of the largest indigenous populations in the country with twelve federally recognized ethnicities.
Women Light The World has been asked by Barefoot College to be part of their growth in these remote areas of Mexico. We look forward to this in 2019!
